Bio

Richard Goering delivers beautiful classical and funky fingerstyle guitar with equal mastery. His improvisations and arrangements of jazz standards and popular tunes engage and captivate.

During a 35 year career, Richard Goering has performed with orchestras and chamber groups, and with classical and popular vocalists on concert series in the U.S., Spain and Italy.

An accomplished arranger and improviser, his playing prompted one Louisville Courier-Journal critic to write, “The guitar is for our time but it is also for all time.”

In addition to his solo work, Richard is an enthusiastic collaborator with numerous exciting side projects.

As the Alegria Duo, Suzanne Bona, flute, and Richard perform music from Baroque to Latin for concert series in Ohio, Ky., Ind., Vt. and N.Y. “Bona played all these works with a natural command of her flute. Similarly, Goering’s musicianship was impressive in both technique and expression.” — The Hardwick Gazette

Soprano Audrey Luna and Richard perform Spanish and South American music as, simply, Alegria. “ ... an obvious mastery of multiple musical genres … It was a truly memorable evening and a unique contribution to our music programming.” — Josh Steele, Carnegie Center for the Visual and Performing Arts

The Levassor Duo, with violist Steve Rosen, has recorded two CDs and performs extensively playing their arrangements of everything from Jewish melodies to Telemann to DeFalla. “Impassioned and heartfelt … great stuff!” — John Morris Russell, conductor, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra
