overlooked, creating a record of my impressions for others to enjoy. Like all artists, I rely on observation. The objects I most often choose to paint are rarely considered beautiful, but I see their color, form and structure as an unexpected gift. Some of my recurring subjects have been old cars, rusted or discarded objects, fence posts and clothes lines. Sometimes my paintings reflect the subject’s age and dignity of hard use rather than abandonment, evoking pensive thoughts of better days. Other pieces are optimistic, reflecting a sense of contentment with life.
