With a pastiche of experiences ranging from biophysics to cooking, Michael Terra places humor and strange insight into his art. Currently traveling through life as the “Mud Poet,” he combines original writing with ceramic sculpture to amplify the emotional impact of his work.
The work may be as small as a replica of a postcard or as large as life-size sculptures with moving parts and dangling bits. All of his work incorporates an element of storytelling.
Instead of telling you his story, Terra would much rather remind you of one of your own stories or experiences. He subtly recreates the beginning of a commonly held event, sensation or emotion and creates context for you to generate a unique response.
