My mother introduced me to clay when she worked at a mold shop. I remember going to the shop when I was about 5 years old and thinking it was my job to scrape the seams off the molds. It didn't occur to me until later that mother was giving me busy work to keep me out of trouble. Some of the pieces I trimmed are still in my collection.

In 2000 I received a BFA in ceramics at Eastern Kentucky University. I started my business, Alley Cat Pottery, with a large corporate commission that sent my work all across the country. I now offer over three dozen stoneware items in eight colors.

I constantly research pottery forms past and present, looking for ways to improve my work. My pottery is elegant and graceful, yet strong enough to endure daily use in a kitchen. I use my pottery in my own kitchen, so I know it can be put in the oven, the microwave and the dishwasher.  And I’ve learned which pieces to make more kid and husband proof.
