Bio

​John S. Moore, concert saxophonist, is passionate about the power of music. A native Kentuckian, John has devoted his life to music and has engaged audiences around the world in venures from preschools to nursing homes, from churches to international conferences, and public and private school forums in a variety of settings.

John has performed in Australia, Canada, Japan, Kosovo, Poland, Puerto Rico, Scotland and the United States. He has recorded on several record labels including Ethos Recordings, Mars Hill Records, IUS Recordings and Music from Maple Mount Records. As a soloist John was a semifinalist in the Concert Artists Guild 37th International New York Competition. As a member of Trio Bel Canto (John, tenor saxophone, Patrick Meighan, alto saxophone, and Krista Wallace-Boaz, piano) he received the Bronze Medal at the first Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and Festa in Japan.

An educator and a parent, John believes in the abilities of Kentucky youth and enjoys sharing with them the experiences and amazing places that music has taken him. John's performances and concerts include a wide variety of musical styles and genres. Presentations offered include concerts with piano or Trio Bel Canto, “3,000 yrs in 42 min” (music history told with saxophone), “It’s All in the Family” (saxophone family, Soprano-Bass) and “Masterclass for Student Instrumentalists” (addressing problems all instrumentalists face).

Presentations can be tailored to meet a wide variety of needs: formal concerts, informational concerts/presentations or educational presentations that will reinforce Kentucky's Core Content in music. Study guides geared to the current state and national guidelines in music education are available.
