Bio
Ava St.Clair is an artist and educator from rural Kentucky whose work celebrates color, joy and the natural world. Deeply connected to her surroundings, Ava draws inspiration from the landscape of her family's farm, where her studio is located. There, she often works outdoors, allowing the rhythms of nature to guide her creative process. Her ceramics—featuring bright glazes, florals and whimsical motifs like bird and fairy houses—reflect the vibrancy and renewal of spring and summer.
Ava discovered her passion for ceramics six years ago, finding in it a grounding, meditative practice that connects her both to the earth and herself. The repetitive motions of wheel throwing have become a form of mindfulness, transforming her studio into a place of calm reflection and creative energy.
An educator at heart, Ava teaches ceramics classes in her studio to students of all ages, embracing the “Teaching for Artistic Behavior" approach to foster creativity and confidence in every learner. She finds great inspiration in her students, whose enthusiasm continually pushes her own artistic growth. Recently, Ava has also begun sharing her process through social media, creating videos that document her pottery making, daily studio life and the realities of being an artist. Through these glimpses into her creative world, she hopes to connect with others and inspire them to pursue their own creative passions.
Alongside teaching, Ava creates and sells her pottery at craft shows, in galleries, and through her studio and online shop. She is currently pursuing a dual degree in Art Education, a ceramic focused Studio Art degree, and a minor in Art History at the University of Kentucky. Through her work, Ava hopes to inspire others to slow down, connect with nature and find joy in the creative process.
