Bio
Teatro Tercera Llamada is a Spanish language theatre company based in Louisville. Its mission is to bring Spanish language theatre and bilingual children’s theatre to the region.
Teatro Tercera Llamada is proud to debut company member Carlos-Manuel’s adaptation of the popular Latino folktale, La Cucarachita Martina (The Little Cockroach Martina). The bilingual (English/Spanish) play promotes reading, inner beauty vs. outer beauty, spending money, peer pressure, friendship, sacrifice, problem solving and encourages writing. The plays characters are represented by actors portraying animals such as Cucarachita Martina, Ratoncito Peña, Gallo Gabriel, Toro Tito, Cockatoo and Dove Donovan. The story is smartly told by four narrators that double for animals, The Queen, The King, a doctor and a Royal Doctor.
The play is to be performed in a community room with three aisles that lead to the staging area. This area is at the same level as the spectators and can be an approximate size of 15 feet by 20 feet. Normal ambient lighting is acceptable and access to electric outlet for speaker hook up is needed. Live music is played throughout the play. Saturday performances are considered. This fun, fast paced, bilingual children’s play is suitable for libraries.
