    Bio

Although I employ traditional transparent watercolor practices, including using only the white of the paper as the white for my paintings, I use glazing techniques to achieve uncharacteristically vibrant images for my realistic paintings.  I enjoy capturing the high contrasts in the play of light and shadow particularly in landscapes and floral paintings. To be able to translate what I see into artistic images and to share them with others is a blessing. If I can touch someone in a positive way with my paintings, then I have achieved a remarkable and satisfying goal.

Commissions have always been an important part of my art experience and I continue to enjoy painting homes, business and pet portraits.  The challenge to represent something unique and personal to the client is one of my favorite endeavors.

Since retiring from the juried art fair circuit. I have enjoyed teaching and displaying my work in galleries such as the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea,Ky.The Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen in Berea, KY., The Chestnut Tree Gallery in Richmond, KY and The LUXE Gallery in Lexington, KY.

The desire to paint has been a driving force in my life since I was a child, so choosing art as a college major was a natural choice. Following the completion of my degree from the University of Kentucky, I continued my education by taking numerous workshops with nationally known watercolor professionals. This led me to specialize in watercolor painting. Chosen by the Kentucky Arts Council to participate in workshops and receive individual instruction by marketing professionals enabled me to promote and improve my work and enhance my standing as a professional artist.
