My art starts with expressive mark making, an initial release of emotions onto the canvas. I use every tool at my disposal, selecting them instinctively to evoke the emotions I aim to convey. Texture is a fundamental part of my work. While I often use a palette dominated by cool tones like purples and blues, I challenge myself to explore neutral tones, and then usually return to more colorful expressions. The subject matter I choose is closely tied to my emotional state and the specific goals of each piece or series. Working in series allows me to craft a cohesive message, but each work is also designed to stand on its own. For me, inspiration is tied to the feeling of wonder and possibility, a state where the boundaries of reality seem to dissolve, and anything can happen. Through my continuous exploration of texture and emotion, I aim to create art that invites viewers to see, feel, and experience my work in a comprehensive, engaging manner.
