    Bio

Sherrie Cocanougher is a lampwork glass bead artist from a small community in Boyle County, Ky. She has been working with soft glass and wire for several years. She has always had a love for crafting. This love came from her grandmother who taught her to use her imagination to make things from everyday items. This influence helps her to create jewelry using unusual colors and found items. Her formal training in interior design at Eastern Kentucky University has intensified her love for design and color. Lampworking has been a great creative outlet to express her love of these things. Most of her color combinations are found in nature. She also enjoys making raw fine silver, copper and lead-free brass wire into handmade links to combine with her handmade glass beads. She uses vintage silverware to craft bracelets and necklaces, creating an eclectic mix with her handmade glass beads.

Cocanougher’s studio is in her home where she works with a surface mix torch that combines oxygen and propane and a digitally controlled kiln to anneal her beads. She uses mostly soda lime glass from Moretti and Vetrofond to craft her beads.

Please feel free to contact her with any questions you may have about any of her designs or to commission a piece just for you. Her work can be purchased at the Kentucky Proud Market, Lexington; Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea; Damselfly Gallery, Midway; and The Frame Cellar, Danville. She can also be found at arts and crafts fairs in and around central Kentucky.
