T. R. Williams draws many of his design ideas from natural forms: the curve of grain in the wood he carves, the natural rhythms of wind in trees, plant growth or human movement. Many of his spoon handles are adjusted to feel good in use; for people who have arthritis, or weak wrists or larger or smaller hands than the average. He also carves left-handed utensils. His turned ornaments are concerned with light and so are very often pierced or carved to let through more light. Many are highly-polished to reflect light, but with a more mellow effect than glass or metal ornaments. The ornaments may also be hung from windowsills or wooden beams and so can be displayed all year round.
