The inspiration for what I do came from my grandfather. As a young boy growing up in West Virginia, I would watch him craft wooden spoons and cutting boards for my grandmother and my aunts. Everything he created was functional, yet beautiful. I use the old ways he taught me to carve wooden spoons and kitchen tools and to make cutting boards. I make benches and stools that are put together with wooden pegs and wedges, just as they were made 100 years ago.
