    Bio

My dive into the world of ceramics has been fulfilling and a time of self-discovery. Most of my life I described myself as “the most uncreative person alive." I have many accomplishments in my life that I am proud of, but I was not completely fulfilled until I started developing my skills as a potter. I had four private wheel throwing lessons, beyond that, I am self-taught. As I studied ceramic artists and potters I admired, I felt the need to conform to a specific style. I felt I wouldn't be a legitimate artist without a defined style. Now, I am completely comfortable with the uniqueness and diversity of my body of work. I would say one theme of my work is contrast. I love the contrast between light and dark, vibrant and subtle, natural and engineered. As a potter, I want my work to be as functional as it is beautiful. When you hold one of my mugs, I want it to be your favorite. I want the weight to be balanced and your hand to comfortably fit around the handle. Everyone was created beautifully unique; I like to think I make something for everyone to enjoy.
