Bio

The Local Honeys are a Kentucky bred duo specializing in the traditional music of their home state. Comprised of Linda Jean Stokley on guitar and old time fiddle and Montana Hobbs on banjo, the two have developed a sweet melding of instrumental and vocal blending that sounds like the bluegrass kissing the mountains. Dedicated to the preservation of regional traditional Kentucky music, The Local Honeys also compose original music that tells the stories, trials and songs of the mountains and people of southern Appalachia. Hobbs and Stokley made history in 2015 when they became the first two women to earn Bachelor of Arts from Morehead State University from the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music. They are versatile in their performance and able to captivate audiences while educating them on the rich history of Kentucky folk music.

The Honeys are ideal for private events, festivals, square dances, music camps, weddings, and capable of leading various workshops on Kentucky stylings of the fiddle and banjo, vocal techniques and songwriting. The Local Honeys have toured heavily across the Southeast and the U.S. as well as internationally as ambassadors of Appalachian music. If scheduling is cooperative, The Local Honeys are available as a duo, trio, or full string band to add even more energy to their lively show.
