    Bio

Amanda Clark is always on the hunt for amazing fabric for her ever-evolving line of purses. She scours fabric stores for the perfect decorator fabrics to create her unusual and clever designs, selecting the colors and patterns that draw the eye and textures that beg to be touched.

Amanda is drawn to contemporary fabrics with geometric designs, fluid patterns and stylized floral motifs. Occasionally she incorporates novelty fabric, such as a fleur-de-lis fabric she used in a purse that was featured in the Louisville Courier-Journal’s Kentucky Derby coverage.

In the studio she makes sketches and manipulates paper into various shapes to create original designs. This visual and tactile process results in a functional, yet artful, pattern. She uses both a domestic sewing machine and an industrial sewing machine to bring the design to fruition. The finishing touch on many of her creations is a beaded zipper pull attached using the jewelry technique of wire wrapping. She individually selects different beads for each purse so that no two purses are alike. They may be created from the same fabric, but each will have a unique flourish.
