Bio
Sylvia Jackson is a self-taught, award winning visual artist whose work includes beautiful landscapes and florals inspired by the Kentucky countryside and the flowers grown in her own gardens. Much of her work also depicts water scenes photographed on travels to various parts of the U.S. In addition to painting, she enjoys teaching both drawing and watercolor. Sylvia has had work accepted in many area and national juried art shows, including an all Kentucky, juried women's art exhibition at the Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington, “Images from the Mountains” a traveling exhibit of Appalachian artists and festival exhibits at the French Art Colony in Gallipolis, Ohio. She has also placed in national juried exhibits of miniature paintings in Washington, DC, Georgia, Florida, New Jersey and Montana. Her work is in permanent collections of area banks and galleries and in many other corporate and private collections. She maintains memberships in the Kentucky Creative Arts Club in Ashland and the Tri-State Arts Association in Huntington, WV. Sylvia and her husband share a studio at the Pendleton Art Center in downtown Ashland.
