The KSO, over the years, has also launched several subsidiary groups specializing in authentic performance of various American musical genres (The Covington Devou-Doo Daddies, a 10-piece group performing swing revival; Newport Ragtime Band, a 10-piece group playing ragtime, blues and early jazz circa 1898-1933; KSO Boogie Band, a 27-piece studio orchestra with vocals performing pop, R&B, Latin, country and rock from the 1950s through today. These groups offer the KSO some flexibility with regard to cost and venue logistics over the full 70 – 80 member orchestra.
