Bio
Cissy Hamilton is a Louisville native with a lifelong passion for art. She grew up riding Saddlebreds and learned to draw at an early age. After receiving a Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design, she moved to Lexington, the epicenter of the Thoroughbred industry . Working for an international Thoroughbred magazine introduced her to the equine racing world. After pursuing careers in art education and graphic design, she now paints full-time in her studio at Artists Attic in Lexington. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects, with an emphasis on equine. She is a member of the Plein Air Painters of the Bluegrass and the American Impressionist Society. Her work is found in private collections nationwide.

I begin each painting with loose brushstrokes using my photography and sketches as a reference.
I believe good drawing is the basis for good painting.
Using minimal detail leaves something to the imagination,
while the energy of the horses themselves often completes the work."
