Innovative in her approach, Jeanne Freibert masterfully marries an accomplished career in photography with a painter's eye and touch. Whether as subject, element or background, she depicts the inscrutability of nature, and the human realms within it. Jeanne perceives stories, metaphors and otherworldly presences in various environments. Her mixed media works have a unique way of transforming everyday reality into more fantastical scenes. Viewers are mesmerized by their mystical and ethereal qualities.
Jeanne was born into an artistic family and has been making art ever since. She earned a BFA degree from Murray State University before embarking on a career in commercial/editorial photography. Eventually she returned to school, earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and taught art for years. Ms. Freibert has received many awards throughout her career, both as a photographer and visual artist. Numerous juried, invitational and solo exhibits nationally and abroad have featured Jeanne's work, including nine in 2023 alone.
In addition to her unique creations, clients commission Ms. Freibert to capture their furry companions' personas in captivating works of art. Currently, Jeanne works both in oils and mixed media in which she combines her photographs with paint, and frequently wax. She can often be found painting in her space at St. Matthews Studios and Gallery in Louisville, Kentucky.
