Bio
From Berea, KY, Nile Jordan is a painter, beat producer, and film enthusiast. They specialize in life science and creating music videos.
Nile began their journey as a teacher under the tutelage of Bob Martin through Partners for Rural Impact. Combining the principles of biology and electronic music production Nile composes songs to bridge the gap between the arts and sciences. They utilize programs such as PlantLife and Ableton in their curriculum.
Nile studied herpetology under Dr. Stephen Richter at EKU through the National Science Foundation. Due to their background in ecology, Nile incorporates the outdoors into many aspects of their curriculum. They aim to spread informed knowledge on the diverse flora and fauna of Kentucky.
Alongside live performances, Nile offers paint marbling, tile staining, and music/video production lessons to students of all ages.
Potential Residency Project
The Sound of Plants - Grades 3rd-8th
Students will be introduced to the concept of music production and bioscience, and will then create a music video based on their findings. This project aims to explore the correlation between the arts and life science; And, aims to serve as a beginner's guide to crafting songs in the age of modern technology. Student submissions can be handled and distributed online by the school's administrator.
Goals:
- Introduce students to science and art in an accessible and career-oriented manner.
- Introduce students to digital audio production and its principles.
- Teach students how to collaborate and brainstorm together artistically and scientifically.
- Introduce students to the varying styles of visual art found in music video production.
- Craft visual art pieces to be used in our production.
- Create a song and choreography to go with our visual pieces.
- Distribute our production throughout the community (school, parents, teachers, etc.)
The Culture of Color - Grades 3rd-8th
Students will be introduced to the history and craft of paint marbling/tile staining and create pieces based on their background. This project aims to share the joys of marbling and tile staining and their cultural significance. A residency of this style emphasizes students' varying backgrounds and celebrates them in a visual form. Student submissions would be displayed at a venue within the school for members of the community to view.
Goals:
- Inform students about the importance of art and culture in a respectful and educated manner.
- Introduce students to the process and principles of paint marbling and tile staining.
- Teach students how to relate self-expression to lived experience, and the importance of their background
- Introduce students to the varying styles of visual art that can be created with paint and tile.
- Craft visual art pieces for our display.
- Invite community members to view our production to encourage students to continue creating.
