    Bio

    ​​​​​​​​Don Hammond is an artisan influenced by the diversity of his adventures. His unique statement pieces are inspired by the beauty of the moments and captivated in pieces of wonder. Growing up under the skilled hands of several tradesmen he learned their aesthetic trades first hand. His college studies ranged from music to theology, inspiring him to own and operate a custom design art studio. As a musician, he is driven by the love of rhythm and sound, which is found in his vast repertoire of genres and styles. Whether performing on stage or a casual setting the joy of his music always comes from the heart. The enormous knowledge and experience from over the past thirty years in the art industry, is what he wants to pass on to inspire the next generation of artisans. 

    All of Don’s programs can be designed to meet your classroom and UDL needs. Each class can range from hands on to performance style; covering a variety of topics such as mathematics ​​psychology, history, cultural studies, musical theory, and much more.



    Potential Residency Project

    Introduction to the Mountain Dulcimer

    With the use of classroom dulci​mers the rich history of this instrument comes to life as the students learn to play.

    Intermediate Mountain Dulcimer and Performance

    Taking the skills of reading notation to the next level by challenging the students to accomplish group, ensemble, or individual stage performances.

    Building the Mountain Dulcimer 

    This class is designed around students making their own dulcimer and bringing their instrument to life.

    Sound 

    A perspective of how different instruments, length, mass all makeup the world of sound we live in.

    “The Diddley Bo” 

    A cultural study form the era of the depression to early blues, played by those who had music in their soul. Classroom instruments will bring this one string slide instrument to reality of the times.

    Building the Diddly-String 

    A one string instrument the students will build with the principles of trash to treasures as they learn to play their new styles of music.

    Lyric Writing 

    A class designed around creative writing through verse and song, challenging the ​students to write their own thoughts into a musical composition.
