Bio
Teri McLaren works in high fire porcelain and stoneware, making traditional, functional ware with a Japanese influence. She prefers to make quiet, minimalistic vessels that are part of her customers' daily lives and, upon surviving years of happy use, become heirlooms. Forms follow function, with decorative elements and themes derived from nature, in keeping with the mid-century Mingei movement. Glazes are often hand mixed, and colors vary from muted to bright tones, depending on the personality of the pot. Teri also makes sculptural vessels, and is always looking for new ways to see and interpret the natural world.
