Bio
The mission of the Lexington Philharmonic (LexPhil) is to foster excellence and innovation in the performance and presentation of great music; to enrich the lives of our diverse citizenry; to educate current and future audiences; and to bring distinction to our community through the orchestra's presence and standing. Through four core values of artistic excellence, innovation, collaboration and accessibility, LexPhil works to build a culture of excitement and curiosity surrounding live orchestral music for the Bluegrass region and beyond.
Founded in 1961, the LexPhil is a pillar of Kentucky culture and artistic excellence, serving central, eastern and southern Kentucky at over 150 concerts and education programs annually. Education is central to LexPhil's mission, and LexPhil offers learning programs for students and community members of all ages. LexPhil is in the process of a national Music Director and Conductor search, with a new Music Director and Conductor to be named in summer 2022.
