Twyla Martins-McLaughlin
Creating art has always held a special interest for me. Special, in that even in my earliest memories, I was intrigued by color combinations and surface textures. There are now two areas of emphasis evident in my printmaking: color and content. The color is arbitrary, based on intuitive response to the subject matter. And the content addresses a personal vision of people, place and time. I often introduce photographic imagery into my work as a means to engage the viewer with an element of truth. The photographic image cam be manipulated in many ways yet it still elicits an instinctive response to its reality of the recorded photographic image.
