Shirley Jeter

Concentrating on watercolors for nearly two decades has enabled me to develop the uncharacteristically vibrant colors for which I have become recognized. My intent is to capture an ordinary moment in time, a scene or an event, and share it with the viewer with the hope of enriching their vision of everyday, often overlooked images.

My degree in art, plus many workshops with renowned and accomplished artists, has prepared me to paint a diversity of subjects. Born in Kentucky and with a deep appreciation for the beauty of the state, the focus of most of my paintings is Kentucky images of landscapes, farmers markets, barns, artisans at work and flowers. Although much of my work is commissioned, I have continually specialized in house paintings and old storefronts. Watercolor is an exciting, expressive medium for me and I am constantly learning from it and growing with it.
