Pat Banks

I work primarily in watercolor. My fascination with the medium, combined with my studies and travels, has given me a unique lens to interpret the world, especially Eastern Kentucky, my home. The beauty of the hills, misty valleys and rivers inspires my work as an artist and electrifies my concern for our environment. Taking the time to slowly walk paths in the woods and fields, float down the beautiful streams and rivers, sketch, photograph and study the "wild things" brings the realization of the fragility and preciousness of this wonderful place. I try to capture the light as it informs my subjects and share the joy and passion I feel when I work! I love the spontaneity and freshness of watercolor as well as the depth and challenge it presents.
