Mel Fleck

Mel Fleck - Priestly BlessingLooking to the past for inspiration is the hallmark of artwork we have created. After a lifetime of travel and study, we find that giving renewed exposure to ancient art forms is both an excellent way to rediscover old ideas and to learn more about what makes us what we are.

For the last fifteen years, our primary sources of study and inspiration have been ancient Egypt and Israel. These cultures have provided the basis for many other ancient civilizations, and have provided the roots of many of our present -day beliefs. We have enjoyed using the knowledge we have gained to create scenes reminiscent of the paintings of the Middle Ages, where in addition to the apparent scene, an additional story is being told through the arrangement and use of symbols.

Since learning about a culture is enhanced by studying the development of its language and its counting system, some of our artwork deals with the letters and the numbers used by various peoples. The apparent similarities and the unusual differences between cultures reveal more about their beliefs and give a greater understanding of how a culture developed.

As you view our work, remember that all our etchings are hand-pulled and individually-painted. This guarantees the uniqueness of our images, as the colors and the tones will between each one.

Each etching is also accompanied by one or more information sheets. These explain the symbolism and the stories depicted in our artwork.

Our artwork reflects who we are and what we believe. When our images appeal to another person, it provides the basis for a genuine connection between us. Because we want that connection to be worthwhile, we attempt to make our artwork both visually attractive and symbolically meaningful.
