Mary Hagy

My artwork closely resembles the work of the early English painters I first admired and studied. It was love at first sight when I was exposed to the landscapes of long ago. Because of my love for the work of a century ago, in the back of my mind is always the thought of provenance. Where will this painting I'm holding and creating now be in the distant future? Will it be cherished and studied by someone as I do with the ones I have discovered? After three decades of painting, I have yet to lose my excitement when finding another beautiful composition to put on canvas. I love the process of painting, the layering and shaping of the thick texture of oils to become the illusion of something real… It's magical.
