Fred Reaves
As a professional photographer and artist for over three decades, my current work continues to be influenced by my early years as a painter and printmaker. As a painter, I was greatly inspired by architectural form and space as well as the old master painters and their use of single source directional light as an important compositional and subject element. These influences dominated my early paintings, lithographs, and serigraphs and have had a profound effect on the direction my work has taken over the years as an artist behind a camera.
The newest tools of art developed through technology, specifically the computer and digital camera, have expanded my vision, imagination and capabilities even further. Now I can explore concepts and ideas that are far beyond what would have been technically possible even a few short years ago. Not only are these new tools expanding my vision photographically, but they have allowed me to explore new approaches to painting, illustration and image creation.
