Carol A. Shutt
I have always enjoyed the quiet and beauty of the country and the stories found in history. The South combines these elements in the subjects I enjoy capturing on film…abandoned farm buildings, Shaker villages and rural landscapes.
The historical nature of the subjects I enjoy is best portrayed by black and white film. The effect of the finished product is more representative of the time when these events actually took place. The use of this film gives a true sense of history to the photograph.
I also enjoy working with color film to capture the beauty of Southern landscapes; the shades of green found nowhere else and the wonderful colors of dogwoods and red buds, sunrises and sunsets. One of the wonders of photography is that it continually allows you to stretch your horizons, increase your skills and see the world in new and wonderful ways.
