Carol Reesor

My interest in art began at an early age, inspired by my older sister, who sketched horses whenever she could. Watching her draw those horses captivated me. I had to try it, and to this day transforming a blank canvas or piece of paper into a work of art fascinates me. Though I continue to sketch, the majority of my work is done in oil, watercolor or acrylic. I really get excited as I finish the painting, and the subject comes to life on my canvas!

Growing up on a small farm gives me a connection with the land. When I see an old barn or an old two-story home I feel there is a story to tell and I'm compelled to paint it, telling my own story in the process. Trying to capture the essence and character of each subject is a challenge, but painting from life and learning to paint what's in front of me makes it easier. As I gain more knowledge and experience, I realize I still have much to learn. I can't think of anything more enjoyable than creating images. My goal as an artist is to paint subjects that catch my eye or capture my heart, and to nurture my passion to create.
