Carlos Fish
Self-taught Kentucky native Carlos Raphael Fish was born in Paris, France and was raised and educated in Louisville, Kentucky. He started drawing as a child and entered a school wide mascot drawing contest at Lymond T. Johnson Middle School. He received 2nd Place because at that time he would only use pencil. The contest called for the mascot eagle to be in color. Fish was still inspired by the 2nd place finish. He soon began to wonder why he was the only one that could do this and realized that something was different. Through the years, he has read and studied materials and other artists very carefully. He recently placed 2nd in the Ashland area art show. He also has two works in the National Civil Rights Museum. His artwork depicts realism as he visualizes it.
