Kentuckiana African American Arts Series

Kentuckiana African American Arts SeriesEnjoy! Experience! Educate! The Kentuckiana African American Arts Series presents theatrical productions for youth and adult audiences. Drama, dance, drumming, storytelling and music await your audiences.

For more than a decade, the artists have performed collectively and individually at conferences, theaters, universities and special events, as well as for African Heritage and History programs at many venues. Original works include: Freedom Knows My Name, A Bus Ride with Mrs. Rosa Parks, Fly’n High with Bessie in the Sky, Africa’s Legacy in America, Journey, and Ayana, the Prince and the Python.

These arts education performances will delight audiences with personal narratives, heritage, history and West African culture. Make it a "family affair" for the community or arrange for student matinees.  Educational opportunities are offered through special post-show audience dialogue.

Mini-performances, artist residencies, workshops and professional development are available locally, regionally and nationally. Companion study guides are available for each show. (Included for Kentucky teachers is a performance level KERA grid.)
