Juggernaut Jug Band

Some thirty years ago, a group of friends became fascinated by jug band music. That group became the Juggernaut Jug Band, dedicated to preserving the music and the spirit of the original Louisville Jug bands of the early 1900s. Just as New Orleans is the home of Dixieland Jazz, Louisville is the home of jug band music, a blend of jazz and blues performed on stringed and other standard instruments, with one strange twist—the sound of a jug.

With each performance of the Juggernaut Jug Band, the music and humor of the jug bands continue, and the audience is invited to have as much fun as the band. Don’t let their antics fool you, though! Their exuberant music is the result of skillful arrangements and unique vocal harmonies.

They have played almost every type of venue imaginable and produced four CDs and a video. Recent performances include the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, Las Vegas Jazz Festival, International Washboard Festival, and the Kent State Folk Festival.
