Daniel and Amy Carwile

Daniel and Amy CarwileChampion fiddlers, multi-instrumentalists, music educators, and composers, Daniel and Amy Carwile bring over 48 years of performing experience to the stage.  Their broad repertoire includes traditional tunes as well as original compositions stylistically ranging from bluegrass and old-time to Celtic and swing. The Carwiles unique blend of music has been heard on the Grand Ole Opry, and throughout the United States, Canada, and the British Isles.  They have performed and/or recorded with Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Alison Krauss, Tim O’Brien, and John Cowan, among others.  “They are two of the most accomplished musicians I have run across in a long time,” said Don Rigsby, head of the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music.

Competing throughout the country, Daniel and Amy have each garnered awards including the U.S. Grand Master Fiddle Contest, World Series of Fiddling, Northwest Regional, and Kentucky, Alabama, and Tennessee State Championships. Together they operate Carwile String Studio in Lexington, specializing in fiddle, viola, mandolin, and acoustic guitar instruction, passing along America’s rich musical heritage to students of all ages.  In tandem with their private instruction, Daniel & Amy travel throughout the U.S. and abroad conducting fiddle workshops and master classes in addition to music camps such as Mark O’Connor’s Fiddle Camps and String Conferences, the International Fiddle School at Vanderbilt University, and the Swannanoa Gathering in Asheville, N.C.
